Description
A larger optical depth to reionization (τ) could potentially explain current tensions between CMB and low-redshift BAO measurements, which would imply a more extended epoch of reionization. At the same time, spatial fluctuations in the optical depth (δτ) offer a window into baryonic feedback that is consistent with kinetic Sunyaev-Zel’dovich measurements when gravitational lensing is taken into account.
